Weekly Wrap Up

Weekly Wrap Up

This past week went by in such a haze. Over on my Youtube channel, I have been going so hard with trying to stay on top of #Vlogmas, that it has consumed so much of my life. It has been fun, I’m proud of myself; up to yesterday I had filmed and uploaded everyday. It feels like though, that I haven’t really consumed much. December is almost over and it feels like all I have to show for it is a video everyday. *the struggle* the weird thoughts I tend to have.

Weekly Wrap Up (3)

I had two really stand out reads from this past week. Most recently, was Romancing The Beat: Story Structure for Romance Novels. I was in the mood for nonfiction but romance at the same time and decided what a perfect time to remove this gem from the to be read cart. Whether wanting to create a romance novel of your own, or in my case, to step your review game up, I think this gem is a read that’s definitely worth it if you love the genre and want a bit more clarification on the mechanics which make it work.

I also read and loved (of course) Insatiable by Melanie Harlow. This is such an emotional and sexy as hell friends to lovers romance between Noah and Meg that to my core, hit all the right spots.

I chat about it in a recent video on my channel where I break down and chat a bit about a few of my favorite romance tropes..

Weekly Wrap Up (1)

On audiobook I have been listening to Fluffy by Julia Kent which I really recommend if you are subscribed to Audible Escape. I highly recommend reading the novella prior to this book, Little Miss Perfect, but this one is hilarious. It is a friends to lovers’ish romance between Will and Mallory. All I’ll say is “my high school crush thinks I’m a porn star.” If anything, read it for the hilarious scene the leads to this quote!

It is safe to say, I am addicted to the Fated Mates podcast. I recently listened to Season 2, Episode 15 which is a recommendations episode. Click here for more info and to check them out.

Weekly Wrap Up (2)

At 1 AM this morning, I watched Christmas On my Mind on Hallmark which starred, Alice from Twilight! She did a really good job. She was always my favorite side character in those movies and I’ve missed seeing her. It is so nice to see her in the starring role and in a Hallmark movie.

Of course I am trying my best to keep up with fellow creators vlogmas videos. One I have been loving is my girl Donna Tsundoku. I love her channel, her videos are so creative and I really look forward to seeing what she is reading next.

I hope your week was amazing and your December has been one you’ll definitely remember. I will chat with you soon friends. take care of yourselves. xx.

Weekly Wrap-Up

Happy Sunday friends. I have decided I would like to do weekly wrap-ups here on the blog. I will share whatever highlights from my week there are, what I’ve been reading, watching-all the jazz! So let’s get into it.

Weekly Wrap Up

Besides reading for school, I did manage to read a few things for fun..

Weekly Wrap Up (3)

I am kicking my holiday romance binge’s butt and my fingers are crossed that the momentum keeps up. This week I finished two books, A Coldwater Christmas by Delores Fossen and Christmas In Winter Valley by Jodi Thomas. Reviews for both will be up in December during my attempt at #Blogmas. I am vlogging my progress through my stack, so if you want to keep up with my video diaries and see firsthand thoughts of my reading, click here to subscribe to my Youtube channel.

Weekly Wrap Up (1)

One of my favorite romance focused Podcasts is The Wicked Wallflowers Club. I love their blend of asking questions to get to know their author guests both as readers and diving into their writing life. I checked their website and the episode I listened to this week and loved isn’t posted on the website yet, but click here to check them out! Wherever you listen to your podcasts, episode 106 is the most recent episode and it’s an interview with author Andie J. Christopher, author of Not The Girl You Marry. Along with the author, they had her editor from Berkley Romance and the interview was such an insightful look into the world of getting published.

Weekly Wrap Up (2)

I watched two really good Hallmark movies this week; Picture A Perfect Christmas and Two Turtle Doves. I tend to wait until after the premiere to watch but these were both new releases and oh, so good! Picture A Perfect Christmas specifically is now in my top five favorite Christmas movies. I highly recommend them both though.

My friend Sarah, at Steeped In Books over on Youtube, posted her 2019 Holiday Book Bingo announcement video here, and I was so excited. In the summer she hosts the summer romance book bingo which I am always sad to see come to an end, so I am so overjoyed that she does this during the holiday season. I already have my bingo card printed out and can’t wait to get started.

Also, this week, my friend Stephanie from Steph’s Romance Book Talk did a live show while answering the End of Year Book tag which you can see here.  I am always amazed at how many books a day Steph reads and how many she rounds out each year having read. It was a nice group of viewers watching and just what I needed that day. It felt like a group of friends hanging out, chatting about books! We need more positive spaces like that. Certain spaces within the book community have become so toxic lately.

As for me, I have two videos that went up this week. First, I vlogged through a few Kindle Unlimited and Audible Escape romances and I posted my to be read list for next weekend’s Contemporary-A-Thon.

I hope this week was amazing for you! It was a chill, low key week for me because I didn’t have a crap ton of school work due. I definitely overindulged on the relaxation time. Let me know what you read/watched/listened to this week. Anything you’d recommend?

Romance Bingo Wrap Up

I’m looking at the calendar and can’t believe we are already as far into August as we are! For me this means we are that much closer to the fall which is exciting but sadly, it means the end to Summer Romance Bingo, which is hosted by Sarah from Steeped in Books on Youtube. I am happy to announce that I have filled my Bingo card! Looking back on last summer, I think I finished with 3 or 4 open spaces left, so I am definitely patting myself on the back for accomplishing it this year.

Although there were a few reads that just didn’t do it for me, for the most part I enjoyed what I read. My intention was to keep the reading fun so I could possibly forget that I was reading to fill up a box and in a way this worked. Then August came. This month has been a sort of reading butt kicker and I am not happy about it. The mixture of 106 degree weather days and waking up early, has me so sleepy by a certain time of day and my reading unfortunately has taken a hit.

I was striving for a Bingo which I reached, but I still have part of this challenge going on. by the last day of August, I’d like to say I reached my second goal with this challenge which was to read 40 of the 80 reading prompts. I have about 12 more prompts to go. It feels so doable, but I know there is this huge disconnect right now between what I want to be doing and my lack of motivation.

I will keep you posted on my goal at the end. Wish me luck, and if you’re participating, I am here rooting for you as well. We got this!! There is still time.
